    What is a poem?
    • A poem is a piece of writing in which
    the words are chosen for their
    beautyand sound and are carefully
    arranged, often in short lines.

    What is poetry?
    • Poetry is a form of literature which
    allows the writers who called to be
    “poets” to express their thoughts,
    feelings, emotions, ideas about a
    particular theme or topic.
    • Poet is different from a persona.

    – the topic of the

    nature, love, death,
    and other life

    SPEAKER
    …is the narrative voice of the poem.

    THEME
    - main idea or an

    of a literary work

    attitude toward the
    subject or audience.
    IMAGERY
    the use of 5 senses
    to point a picture on
    image in the
    reader’s mind.
    SYMBOLISM
    the use of a specific
    object or an image
    to represent an READER
