Epithelial tissue
•The nuclei are elongated and are usually located near the
base of the cells
• Has more than one layer of cells and the top layer is
comprised of flat cells. The top cells are flat and scaly
and it may or may not be keratinized (i.e. containing a
tough, resistant protein called keratin)
•Consists of is more than one layer of cells and the top layer is
usually cube shaped
•The cells of this specific rare tissue are column shaped and
are arranged in multi layers
•Consists of only one layer and the cells typically have cilia.
The columnar cells are of different lengths and their nuclei
occur at different levels
Pseudostratified columnar
epithelium

Glandular Epithelium
• Columnar epithelium with goblet cells is called glandular
epithelium
•Mode of Secretion:
•Merocrine: Exocytosis.
•Type of Secretion:
Exocrine glands: Develop from epithelium surface and keep
their connection, they secrete onto surface or into duct.
1.Serous- secrete watery solution
2.Mucous- protein and water
3.Mixed- mucous and serous
Glandular epithelium
