non-linear text
Objectives:

Linear text refers to
traditional text that needs
to be read from beginning
to the end.

Non-Linear text
Non-linear Text refers to texts that do
not need to be read from beginning to
the end. There are multiple reading
paths. Typically includes digital texts.

-Graphic Organizers (Concept map, Venn Diagram,
Sequence Chart, Graphs, Tables, Network Tree, Spider Map,
and Cycle)
Steps to transcode a linear to non-linear
text
1. Read the text and get the main idea.
2. Extract necessary information for the visual
presentation.
3. Remember to use keywords or phrases only.
4. Classify information into categories.
5. Make sure to use the correct nonlinear text to
present the information.
Steps to transcode a non-linear to linear
text
1. Look at the details of the graphic organizer,
chart diagram carefully.
2. Get only the gist, most important details or
summary of the information.
3. Write what the diagram is about, and your
interpretation based on the given information
Example:
There are 5 students who loves reading Wattpad
books, 10 students prefer dictionaries, 15
students like newspaper and 20 students prefer
inquirer.
