CLASSROOM POLICIES

ACFAR 2132 INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING 1


1ST SEMESTER SY 2023-2024

PRELIMINARIES
1. At the start of the semester, all students are expected to access the courseware
in Daigler20 (Moodle).
2. Please read the following as soon as possible:
a. Classroom Policies
b. Course Outline
c. Course Syllabus (with Flexible Instruction Delivery Plan or FIDP)
d. Teacher’s Profile
3. Each student must submit an ruled INDEX CARD (5 x 8) at the start of the
semester. This index card must reflect the following:
Name: (First, Middle Initial, Surname)
Senior High School:
Location:
Strand:
Final Grades in 1st Semester Professional (Major) courses:

Classes on Saturday (if any): (please indicate specific class period)

Attach/paste a recent 2 X 2 (or Passport size) photo on the upper right portion of the card.
ATTENDANCE
1. Students are expected to come to class on time.
2. A seating arrangement is to be implemented to expedite the checking of
attendance.
3. A class beadle will be assigned to check the attendance, and will encode the
absences in the Beadle system.
4. For Mon-Wed or Tue-Thu classes (two class meetings in a week), the
MAXIMUM number of absences in a semester is SEVEN (whether the reason
for absence is valid/excused or invalid/unexcused).
5. If the number of absences in a semester EXCEEDS seven (7), the student
automatically gets a grade of FD.
This DOES NOT apply to President’s Listers and Dean’s Listers.
MISSED QUIZZES/EXAMS
1. Students will NOT be given SPECIAL quiz for MISSED quiz/es.
2. If the reason for missing the quiz is INV ALID, the student automatically gets
a zero (0) raw score or 40% rating.
3. If the reason for missing the quiz in VALID, the rating for the missed quiz is
based on the periodical or term exam rating. Example
Quiz 1 80
Quiz 2 none
Quiz 3 82
Exam 76
The average rating for quizzes will be (80+76+82)/3, or 79.33
4. Students will NOT be given SPECIAL exam for missed PRELIM or
MIDTERM exam.
5. If the reason for missing the exam is INVALID, the student automatically gets
a zero (0) raw score, or 40% rating.
6. If the reason for missing the exam is VALID, the rating for the MISSED exam
will be based on the FINAL DEPARTMENT EXAM rating which, obviously, will
be given at the end of the semester. As such, the student will be given a
TEMPORARY letter grade of D (Minimal Pass) as Prelim and/or Midterm grade.
7. The Prelim and/or Midterm grade will be RECOMPUTED as soon as the Final
Departmental Exam rating becomes available.
8. If a student failed to take the FINAL DEPARTMENTAL EXAM, and the
reason is INVALID, the student automatically gets a zero (0) raw score, or 40%
rating.
9. If a student failed to take the FINAL DEPARTMENTAL EXAM, and the
reason is VALID, a student is given a DIFFERENT set of exam to be taken within
four (4) working days from the date the Final Departmental Exam was
simultaneously administered by the Accountancy Department.
Take note that faculty members are given ONLY five (5) working days to submit
the FINAL GRADE from the last day of the final exam during the final exam
week.
USE OF BASIC CALCULATOR
1. All students are REQUIRED to use BASIC CALCULATORS only
(preferably the one with “GT”) during classes, quizzes and examinations.
2. Students are PROHIBITED from using SCIENTIFIC calculators, or
calculators in cellphones, while inside the classroom or testing room during
quizzes and examinations.
3. Students are PROHIBITED from taking PICTURES/PHOTOS of the TEST
QUESTIONNAIRES (during quizzes and exams).
4. Students are PROHIBITED from borrowing their classmate’s/seatmate’s
BASIC calculator while taking quizzes and exams.
GRADES COMPUTATION
1. The grading system for this course is reflected in the Course Outline and
Course Syllabus.
2. The ratings for quizzes and examinations are rounded off to two (2) decimal
places; meaning, the ratings will NOT be rounded off to nearest percentage.
Example: Prelim Exam
57/80  base 40
rating is 82.75%, not 83%
Example: Quiz
49/65  base 40
rating is 85.23%, not 85%
ON ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
(CHEATING)
1. Students should be mindful of the sanctions of cheating in Quizzes and
Examinations.
2. Academic Dishonesty/Cheating in WHATEVER form shall NOT be tolerated.
SCHEDULING OF EXAMS
ON A SATURDAY
1. As reflected in the Course Outline, the Prelim Exam and Midterm Exam shall
be scheduled SIMULTANEOUSLY on a Saturday.
2. We shall find a COMMON time on a Saturday that is NOT in conflict with
your other enrolled courses scheduled on a Saturday (i.e. PE and NSTP)
Example: If ALL students are available on a Saturday 5:30 to 8:30 pm, then
the
Prelim Exam and Midterm Examinations will be scheduled during this
day/period.
