INTRODUCTION

The innovation strategy aims


to position the UAE among the
world's top leaders of
innovation and to develop a
type of thinking that
encourages experimentation
and taking well-thought-out
risks to achieve the goals of
UAE Centennial 2071.
TheMinistry of Human Resources and
Emiratization has listed 6 strategic goals.

National Policy on Vaccinations

 The National Policy on Vaccinations is a multi-sectoral national


framework for combatting communicable diseases and reducing
their risks to individuals and society.
 The policy will act as a coordination framework for all parties
involved in the immunisation field and enhance the efficiency of
services. It also aims to:
 bring together the non-governmental sector and community
members to support the UAE's fight against communicable
diseases by promoting a healthy lifestyle
 make vaccines widely available, ensure their sustainability and
quality, raise awareness on their importance, and support
innovation and research in the field
The Science, Technology
and Innovation Policy

 The
Science, Technology and Innovation P
olicy
is a strategic decision for the UAE
that aims to change the national
economy equation to drive it away
from depending on limited oil
resources.
 This policy aims to foster sustainable
innovation based on science and
technology, in an attempt to build a
true knowledge-based economy.
Focusing on science and technology
will help the UAE leapfrog to achieve
its global ambition and vision for the
year 2021.

 In September 2017,
Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure unveiled the UAE
Water Security Strategy 2036, which aims to ensure
sustainable access to water during both normal and
emergency conditions in line with local regulations,
standards of the World Health Organisation, and the
UAE’s vision to achieve prosperity and sustainability.
 The strategy focuses on three main programs: the
Water Demand Management Programme, the Water
Supply Management Programme and the Emergency
Production and Distribution Programme.
National Climate Change Plan

National Climate Change Plan of the UAE 2


017–2050
is the UAE’s comprehensive framework to
address the causes and impacts of climate
change, plan the transition into a climate
resilient green economy and achieve a
better quality of life. The primary objectives
of the Climate Plan are to:
 Manage greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions while sustaining economic
growth
 Minimise risks and improve capacity of
adaptation to climate change
 Enhance the UAE’s economic
diversification agenda through
innovative solutions
NATIONAL AGENDA

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-


President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,
has launched a seven year UAE National Agenda leading to
the UAE Vision 2021 which also coincides with the UAE’s 50th
National Day.

The UAE National Agenda, which was developed by over 300


officials from 90 federal and local government entities,
includes a set of national indicators in the sectors of
education, healthcare, economy, police and security, justice,
society, housing, infrastructure and government services.

These indicators are long-term, measure performance


outcomes in each of the national priorities, and generally
compare the UAE against global benchmarks. The national
indicators are periodically monitored by Government
leadership to ensure their targets are achieved by 2021.
