Ans - I found alternatives in my breakfast and lunch and chose to include healthier organic foods.

Ans-The changed recipes are :- No potato in upma .

Ms . Kanchan is a teacher and a cooking enthusiast .

Q1. Why and When did you start cooking?


Ans- I started experimenting with cooking during the Covid pandemic we had . I started
because we had to keep ourselves busy and satisfy our food cravings .

Q2. What is your take on cooking with exotic veggies , imports etc. ?
Ans- When I talk about imported veggies , they include a lot of packaging materials and
may not be sustainable and end up harming the Earth . Even if I end up planting those
vegetables in my country , it will require a lot of resources and won’t be suitable .

Ms. Kiran is a nutritionist and an Aerobics and Yoga instructor .

Q1. What is your idea of a Green Meal?


Ans- According to me . 75% of our meal should be green vegetables that are cooked raw like
salads . These salads are very nutritious. The protein content is very amazing .

Q2. How can we turn farming and cooking green?


Ans- There should be no usage of pesticides. We shouldn’t overcook a meal as it results in a
nutrient loss .

Ms. Senjuti and Ms.Subhadra are entrepreneurs and reading enthusiasts.

Q1. What is your take on how a meal can be 100% green? (Ms.Senjuti)
Ans- Farmers shouldn’t use chemical fertilizers and inorganic materials. Its packaging should
be sustainable. We shouldn’t use one-time plastics and store the food in a right way.

Q2 . Can cooking be ecofriendly or sustainable ? (Ms.Subhadra )


Ans- Yes , it can be. You should use all the parts of the food like peels of a fruit. You can use
it for a compost. You should use cold pressed oils instead of refined ones.

the students learned to
make Aam Panna (A drink
of raw mango with spices
and delightful freshness).
▪ Also we had made
different varieties of
salads in school.

Conclusion:
• A healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition. It protects
you against many chronic non-communicable diseases, such as
heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and
consuming less salt, sugars and saturated and industrially-produced
trans-fats, are essential for healthy diet.
• Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is strongly associated with a
lower risk of premature deaths and non-communicable diseases.
• Green leafy vegetables are vital for growth and good health as they
contain all important nutrients. Leafy vegetables are particularly rich
in mineral nutrient and iron. Iron deficiency leads to anaemia, a
common health problem among pregnant and lactating women and
also children.
