90° ELBOW BEND

• A 90-degree elbow creates a joint between two pneumatic

conveying pipes at right angles to each other. For this reason, a
90-degree elbow is sometimes called a quarter bend.
• The most common use for a 90 degree elbow is to connect two
pieces of pipe running in different directions. A 90 degree elbow is
also used to connect two pieces of pipe running in the same
direction but at different angles.

OFFSET BEND
• One of the more common bends made in electrical conduit is the offset bend: a technique
used to move a run of conduit a set distance to one side, up or down. It is very rare that conduit
can be placed in a straight line along the entire distance needed.

• Two identical bends placed in a conduit to change direction or elevation of the pipe run.
Radius: The relative size of the bent portion of a pipe. Reference Point: A mark used to locate
the edge of an obstruction for bending saddles.

• Offset bending can be used to form two equal and opposite bends that are too close together
for regular bending. Offset bends can be used to create a flat surface when connecting two
panels, or to strengthen the sheet metal.

3 POINT SADDLE BEND

• The saddle bend is similar to an offset bend, but in this case the same plane is
resumed. It is used most often when another pipe is encountered. Most
common is a 45° center bend and two 22-1/2° outer bends, but you can use a
60° center bend and two 30° bends.

• An Offset conduit bend is kind of bend that changes the direction of the
conduit at an angle, while keeping a consistent distance to a wall, ceiling or
other surface. Basically, it allows you to run your conduit around an obstacle
that is in the conduit path.
