DATIEUTL

1.What are the initial temperatures of water

and soil?
2.What is the difference between the
temperature of soil and water after ten
minutes?
3.Which heats up faster, soil or water?
4.What happens to the temperature after
removing the source of heat from each
setup?
5.Which cools faster, soil or water?
Imagine two towns: one situated near the coast and the other deep
inland. In the coastal town, the climate is generally milder, with cooler
summers and warmer winters compared to the town inland. Near the
coast, the ocean acts as a heat reservoir, absorbing and releasing heat
more slowly than land. During summer, the ocean cools the air,
preventing extreme heat, while in winter, it warms the air, preventing
extreme cold. This moderating effect results in a narrower temperature
range throughout the year. In contrast, the town inland experiences
more extreme temperatures because it lacks this moderating influence.
Without the nearby ocean to regulate temperature, inland areas can
heat up significantly during the summer and cool down rapidly in the
winter.
1.How does the body of water
regulate the temperature of a
certain region or country?
2.Why do some areas that are far
from the bodies of water have
extreme climates?
Choose the letter that corresponds to the correct answer and write it on
a ¼ sheet of paper (2 pts each)

1. It refers to the wind that brings cooler air to the coast?

b. Windward
c. Westerlies
d. Sea breeze

1. The farther you live from an ocean, the more likely your climate will
be a ___
a. Warm c. moderate
b. Cold d. tropical
1.Large bodies of water affect climate because
a.Water heats up and cools more slowly than land
b.Water heats up and cools faster than land
c.Water and land cool at the same time
d.Water and land heat at the same rate

1.How does distance from the sea affect climate?

a.By regulating the air temperature
b.By making the air temperature warmer.
c.By producing more precipitation.
d.By forming rain shadow.
1.In the summer, how does distance from the sea affect
the climate?
a.Warm breezes will bring warm air to the coast whilst
inland will be cooler.
b.Cool breezes will bring cooler air to the coast whilst
inland will be warmer.
c.Cool breezes will cool both the coast and further
inland.
d.Warm breezes will warm both the coast and further
inland.
