objectives
At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
1. Understand the concepts of social justice and human
rights and their importance in promoting fairness and
equality in society.
2. Engage activities that demonstrate advocacy and
action for the protection of human rights.
3. Develop a sense of empathy, responsibility, and
commitment to promoting social justice and human
rights.
Key concepts
• Social Justice- the fair and equitable distribution of
resources, opportunities and rights within society ensuring
all individuals have equal access to basic needs and
opportunities.

• Human Rights – inherent rights and freedoms that every


person is entitled to, regardless of race, gender,
nationality, religion or socioeconomic status including the
right to life, liberty and security of person.

Direction:
Present students with a scenario that
highlights an injustice or human rights
violation.

Guide Questions:
1. How do you feel about the
situation?
2. As a student, what do you think you
should be done to address this
issue?
“Advocacy Action Plan”

Direction:
1. Group students into five. Give each group
some ample time to make brainstorming and
planning initiatives to address a specific
human right within their school or
community.

2. Encourage students to consider different
strategies, such as organizing awareness
campaigns, writing letters to policymakers, or
participating in peaceful protests.

3. Facilitate a discussion on the potential
challenges and ethical considerations involved in
advocacy work.

1. Invite each pair/group to present their
advocacy action plans to the class.
2. Encourage constructive feedback and
suggestions from classmates to strengthen the
proposed initiatives.
3. Facilitate a reflection on the importance of
collective action and solidarity in advancing
social justice and human rights.
Wrap up
Social justice and human rights are critical
aspects of promoting fairness and equality in
society. They are interconnected concepts that
aim to ensure that all individuals are treated
with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless
of their background, identity, or
circumstances.
Activity:
Commitment Cards

Students will be given a commitment card


wherein they will write one action they will take
to promote social justice and human rights in
their daily lives.
Encourage students to keep their commitment
cards as a reminder of their dedication to being
“CHAMPIONS OF JUSTICE”.
