HISTORY
• Cricket was introduced to North America via the English colonies as early as the
17th century, and in the 18th century it arrived in other parts of the globe

• It was on March 15, 1877 that the first-ever official international cricket match
was played between England and Australia at Melbourne

ORGANIZTION

The ICC (International Cricket Council) is the global governing body for
cricket. Representing 106 members, the ICC governs and administrates the
game and works with our members to grow the sport. The ICC is also
responsible for the staging of all ICC Events.
The ICC presides over the ICC Code of Conduct, playing conditions, the
Decision Review System and other ICC regulations. The ICC also appoints all
match officials that officiate at all sanctioned international matches.
Through the Anti-Corruption Unit it coordinates action against corruption
and match fixing.

Cricket Leagues
Today every major Cricketing Nation has its own league due to the fact of
grooming their own players and engaging more money and audience in the
system. Here are some of the major Cricket Leagues.
• IPL (Indian Premier League) owned by BCCI, is the pinnacle of a
tournament. In fact it’s a major reason behind the increase of cricketers
salaries in today's cricketing world, which is beneficial for game.
• PSL (Pakistan Super league) is owned by Pakistan Cricket, it is rated
as one of highly standard tournament in terms of local bowling talent.
• BBL (Big Bash League) is owned by Cricket Australia, it is also known as
a grandest T20 league.
REVENUE
• ICC and all the Cricketing Nations mainly earn money from their
Broadcasting deals and Sponsorship.

• For instance, Star holds global ICC media rights in a whopping deal
worth $2.1bn (€1.8bn) over eight years, from 2015-16 to 2022-23.

• The current media right for IPL are with Star India. The company won both
the television broadcast rights as well as digital streaming rights
for ₹16,347.50 crore for a period of five years in 2017.
