E-SİM

MODERN COMMUNICATION SOLUTIONS

WHAT IS E-SIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital version of the
SIM card used to connect your phone to a network
provider.

The “e” in eSIM stands for “embedded,” which

makes sense as this is a SIM card that stays inside
your phone and can’t be removed.

If your smartphone has an eSIM inside, you’ll find

options in the settings that allow you to configure
your eSIM, switch between lines and carriers, and
manage your accounts.

ADVANTAGES
 For client

 Recover your data in case of loss. Since the information you store
in your eSIM or virtual SIM card is also stored in the cloud, in case your
mobile phone is lost or stolen, you only need to transfer this data to
another terminal (mobile with eSIM).
 Travel and stay connected. One of the advantages of eSIM is the
ability to use it as MultiSim, that is, to keep a single tariff plan with the
same amount of data distributed across different devices. Also, when
traveling, you will not need to physically change your national SIM card
to the SIM card of the destination country (in case you choose this
mode of Internet connection).

ADVANTAGES
 For the manufacturer
 As for device manufacturers, incorporating eSIM connectivity in their
products can become an element of differentiation from competition, with
the promise of simplifying connectivity management for users.
 It will be easier for the company to change tariffs. Since your eSIM has
information about all phone carriers, it only takes one click to change, for
example, your data plan or your company.

 For the network operator

 Less paperwork. Operators will not have to worry about providing their
customers with SIM cards due to the loss of mobile communication or tariff
renewal. With eSIM, processes and tasks are simplified.
 For MNOs, larger numbers of connected devices using their networks –
including with the advent of new categories of previously unconnected
devices like printers – will quite simply translate into increased sales of mobile
subscriptions and services. eSIM represents a real opportunity for them to
seize.
ESIM AND RESILIENCE
Billions of SIM cards are produced and recycled around the world every year.
Despite their age (SIM cards appeared in the early 1990s), there is still no
effective method of disposing of SIM cards.

DISADVANTAGES

 Lack of eSIM-capable phones

Because it's a newer feature typically reserved for premium devices, eSIM-capable
phones tend to be more expensive. eSIM capability isn't widely supported across all
phone models and is typically reserved for flagship phones. This should change over
time as eSIM becomes the standard it should extend to less premium phones.
 Less easy to switch between mobile phones
With a physical SIM, you can pop the card out of its slot and into a new phone.
eSIM may require you to reactivate your profile on one device and activate it on your
new phone. In some cases, you may need assistance from your telco. This can be
especially inconvenient if the first phone in the scenario is damaged.

 Tracking and Privacy

eSIMs can make you more easily trackable by network providers. Since they’re
embedded in your phone, they leave a digital trail that can be monitored. This may
raise privacy concerns for some users.
