STARLINK: DISRUPTING GLOBAL INTERNET

ACCESS
A SPACEX PROJECT

A presentation by: Manahil Waheed

INTRODUCTION

 Starlink’s aim is to help people who live

far away and don't have good internet.
They use special satellites that orbit
close to Earth to give fast internet
directly to these places. They're trying to
make internet easier to get and not so
expensive, especially in areas where it's
hard to build regular internet
connections.
 Starlink is building a massive
group of satellites that orbit close
to Earth to cover the whole world

VISION AND
with internet. They focus on
making it affordable for everyone,
having faster response times

STRATEGY (which is important for things like

video calls), launching their
satellites in stages, and
controlling most parts of the
process themselves.
Bridging the Digital Divide:Bridging the Digital Divide
means closing the gap between people who have easy
Bridging access to technology and those who don't, making sure
everyone can use the internet and other digital tools.

SUCCESS Boosting
Boosting Economic Development:Boosting Economic
Development involves using technology to create jobs,
improve businesses, and grow economies, especially in
FACTORS places that need a push.

Stimulating Innovation:Stimulating Innovation means

Stimulatin encouraging new ideas and creative solutions, often by
g giving people better access to information and resources
through technology.
CHALLENGES

Orbital Debris Management: Effectively managing space debris to prevent

collisions with satellites and ensure orbital safety.

2. Signal Interference Mitigation: Implementing techniques to minimize

signal interference from various sources, including terrestrial transmissions
and other satellites.
3. Space Weather Resilience: Developing strategies to mitigate the
impact of space weather events such as solar flares and geomagnetic
storms on satellite operations.
4. Sustainable Power Supply: Ensuring reliable and sustainable power
generation for satellites, including solar panels and energy storage
systems.
5. Data Security and Privacy: Implementing robust cybersecurity
measures to protect satellite data and communications from unauthorized
access and cyber threats.
Orbital Debris Management: Monitor space junk
and adjust satellite paths; design debris-clearing
technology.

Space Weather Resilience: Cover satellites for

protection and predict space weather; use
automatic systems for quick changes.
SOLUTIONS
Sustainable Power Supply: - Make solar panels
better and store more energy; also, look into
using nuclear power.

Data Security and Privacy: Use very strong codes

and secure rules; check security often and use
safe logins.
CONSIDERATIONS

Long-term sustainability in technology Ethical access refers to making sure The impact of space exploration can be
involves creating systems that can last a everyone has fair and equal access to both positive and negative, affecting
long time without causing harm to the technology and information, without things like scientific discovery, resource
environment or running out of resources. creating monopolies or unfair advantages. availability, and environmental concerns.
CONCLUSION

 Starlink has the potential to revolutionize internet access by providing high-speed

broadband globally, especially in underserved areas. However, it faces challenges such as
maintaining satellite constellations, signal quality, regulatory hurdles, and competition.
 Success hinges on affordability and continuous innovation to address these challenges and
deliver reliable, accessible internet services.
