Debate ay isang pakikipagtalong may


estruktura. Isinasagawa ito ng
dalawang grupo o pangkat na may
magkasalungat na panig tungkol sa
isang napapanahong paksa.
- Ang dalawang panig ay ang
proposisyon at ang oposisyon
- May isang moderator na magiging
tagapamagitan upang matiyak na
magiging maayos ang daloy ng
debate.

Mahusay na Debater
1. Nilalaman – napakahalagang may
malawak na kaalaman ang isang
debater patungkol sa panig
na kanyang ipinagtatanggol at
maging sa pangkalahatang paksa ng
debate. Kailangan niyang magkaroon
mangalap ng datos, malawakang
pagbabasa at pananaliksik.
2. Estilo- ditto makikita ang husay ng
debater sa pagsasalita, sa pagpili ng
tamang salitang gagamitin.
- Linaw at lakas ng kanyang tinig,
husay ng tindig at kumpiyansa sa
sarili.
3. Estratehiya- dito makikita ang
husay ng debater sa pagsalo o
pagsagot sa mga argumento at kung
paano niya matatawag ng pansin ang
kanyang proposisyon.

Debateng Oxford- ang bawat kalahok
ay magsasalita lamang ng minsan,
maliban na lang sa unang
tagapagsalita na wala pang
sasalaging mosyon
kaya’t mabibigyan ng isa pang
pagkakataong magbigay ng kanyang
pagpapabulaan sa huli.
Debateng Cambridge - ang bawat
kalahok ay dalawang beses titindig
upang magsalita. Una ay para ipahayag
ang kanyang patotoo at sa ikalawa ay
para ilahad ang kanyang
pagpapabulaan.
