ONE ACT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS & FAITH

2 KINGS 13:14-16
Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. "My father! My father!" he cried. "The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" 15 Elisha said, "Get a bow and some arrows," and he did so. 16 "Take the bow in your hands," he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king's hands.

2 KINGS 13:17,18
"Open the east window," he said, and he opened it. "Shoot!" Elisha said, and he shot. "The LORD's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!" Elisha declared. "You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek." 18 Then he said, "Take the arrows," and the king took them. Elisha told him, "Strike the ground." He struck it three times and stopped.

1 KINGS 13: 19,20

The man of God was angry with him and said, "You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times." 20 Elisha died and was buried.

STORY: KING JEHOASH - NEEDED A WORD FROM GODS SERVANT. MY FATHER! MY FATHER! THE CHARIOTS AND HORSEMEN OF ISRAEL ( 2 KINGS 2:12) same cry of Elisha to Elijah! ELISHA ON HIS DEATH BED HE SERVED FAITHFULLY FOR 60 YEARS AS A PROPHET.

3 KEY PRINCIPLES FOR YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH AND VICTORY

1. THERE WAS A PROPHETIC ACT OF FAITH HEBREWS 11: 6 - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him I CALL IT THE ONE ACT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS and FAITH! Most prophetic acts may seem foolish to the natural mind

FOR THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD IS WISER THAN MANS WISDOM (1 COR. 1:20)
The call of Elisha by Elijah: 1 KINGS 19:21 SO ELISHA TOOK HIS YOKE OF OXEN & SLAUGHTERED THEM. HE BURNED THE PLOWING EQUIPMENT TO COOK MEAT AND GAVE IT TO THE PEOPLE THEN HE SET OUT TO FOLLOW ELIJAH AND BECAME HIS ATTENDENT. REWARD : A DOUBLE PROTION

2 KINGS 4: 2-4 ELISHA and WIDOW WITH 2 SONS

What can I do to help you? Elisha asked. Tell me, what do you have in the house? Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil, she replied. 3 And Elisha said, Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. 4 Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled. REWARD : A DEBT FREE LIFE !
2

ELISHA & NAMAAN - SYRIAN COMMANDER (2 KINGS 5)

So Namaan went with his horses and chariots and waited at the door of Elishas house. 10 But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy. REWARD: HEALED OF DISEASE

2. THERE MUST BE NO HINT OF COMPLACENCY (v.18)

Jehoash only struck the arrow 3 times. WE MUST NEVER TAKE THE WORD OF GOD LIGHTLY. 1 SAMUEL 15:12 SAUL SET UP A MONUMENT IN HIS OWN HONOR. V. 22 DOES THE LORD DELIGHT IN BURNT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES AS MUCH AS IN OBEYING THE VOICE OF THE LORD? TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE

THE PARABLE OF THE RICH FOOL LUKE 12:20 YOU FOOL! THIS VERY NIGHT YOUR LIFE WILL BE DEMANDED FROM YOU. THEN WHO WILL GET WHAT YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR YOURSELF?

3. THERE WAS HONOR FOR GODS AFFLICTED WEAKENED SERVANT

KING JEHOASH RECEIVED THE BLESSING AND PROMISE OF GOD FOR VICTORY OVER ARAMEANS (SYRIANS). NO SENSE OF DISRESPECT FOR THE SICK AND DYING PROPHET. 2 TIM. 4:20 PAUL LEFT TROPHIMUS SICK IN MILETUS.

LUKE 23:50-53 Joseph of Arimathea

NOW THERE WAS A MAN NAMED JOSEPH, A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL AND UPRIGHT MAN..GOING TO PILATE HE ASKED FOR JESUS BODY. THEN HE TOOK IT DOWN, WRAPPED IT IN LINEN CLOTH AND PLACED IT IN A TOMB CUT IN THE ROCK.
