Somebodys opinion of a film A critique of a film A brief plot summary Details about the best and worst bits Comments on special effects Comments on the performances of actors and actresses Comments on the skill of the director

How are film reviews structured?

Opening statement Plot summary Reviewers opinion

Look at this example

BILLY ELLIOT (15) It might be a small story young lad Billy fights for his right to be a ballet dancer but this emotional rollercoaster ride will reduce you to a quivering wreck and fill your heart with joy. A deserved boxoffice triumph.

Now look at another. Can you identify the opening statement, the plot summary and the reviewers opinion?
ROMEO MUST DIE (15) Martial artist Jet Li headlines this action packed kung fu movie loosely based on Romeo and Juliet. He plays an ex-Hong Kong cop who busts out of prison and heads straight for San Francisco to avenge the gangland murder of his brother. Its not the most believable of plots, but the fight scenes are breathtaking. Singer Aaliyah makes a lively love interest and trills out 4 of the soundtrack songs reason alone to see this film in our book.
