GOSPEL TRUTH #1: Jeremiah. 5:1-2
faussement qu’ils jurent.”
GOSPEL TRUTH #2: Obadiah 1: 11-12
Effects of Conflict
Destructive or Constructive
7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you
sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn and
wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble
yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
11Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his
brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you
judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12There
is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy.
But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?

What Destructive Conflict Does
•Mediation:
Mediation A confidential and voluntary process where a neutral third-party
facilitator helps co-workers discuss difficult issues and negotiate an agreement.
The facilitator gathers information, frames the issues, identifies options, negotiates a
resolution, and finalizes the plan. The parties involved make the decisions; the
mediator just helps walk them through the process.
•Conciliation:
Conciliation Both parties use a conciliator who meets with them separately
to help resolve their differences. The conciliator helps each party seek concessions,
rather than using a legal system or deep discussions to reach an end.
•Arbitration:
Arbitration A neutral third-party reviews evidence and listens to arguments
from both sides, then issues a decision to settle the case. Arbitration is most often
used in commercial and labor/management disputes or as a legal alternative to
litigation

THE DOWNWARD PROGRESION
• Differences- People are different. Spice of life. Itself is not a cause of conflict
• Problem- Occurs when differences cause some consequences for at least one
party. Problems could be avoided, but are potential for escalation when
unresolved
• Dispute- when more than one party acknowledges the differences and problems
• Conflict- All parties are willing to invest in the escalation in order to “win”
or not lose
• War- parties are so engaged in their violence that they use it to damage the other
sides source of power.

Gospel Truth #7: Ephesians 4:25- 5:1-7
25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor,
for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun
go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who
has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with
his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful
for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of
redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along
with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
51Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just
as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to
God.
3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of
impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. 4Nor should
there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather
thanksgiving. 5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--
such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath
comes on those who are disobedient. 7Therefore do not be partners with them.

Gospel Truth #8 : Galatians 5:13-18
13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do
not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;
rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law
is summed up in a single command: "Love your
neighbor as yourself." 15If you keep on biting and
devouring each other, watch out or you will be
destroyed by each other.
16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not
gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the
sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit,
and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.
They are in conflict with each other, so that you do
not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under law.
