Web & Database Hosting
Researchers and departments rely heavily on web services to share critical information. At SDSC, the Web and Database Services group provides reliable 24/7 UNIX web hosting to the UC and UC San Diego communities.
SDSC servers are equipped with the latest versions of Apache and PHP, including 4 GB of included disk storage and daily offsite backups. Service cost includes no throughput throttling and no monthly transfer charges. Third-party web applications such as WordPress, Drupal, ExpressionEngine, and customized web development frameworks are generally supported. A complimentary MySQL database is provided for use with the website, along with 24/7 monitoring and support in a secure machine room with emergency backup power.
MySQL databases up to 4 GB are also available without the web hosting component. Additionally, other database platforms may be supported on SDSC's virtual machine farm.
Windows-based web hosting is available via SDSC's Research Data Services group.
