     Sir Andrew Murray, 1st Lord Balvaird was born circa 1597.2 He was the son of David Murray of Letter Bannachty, Balgony, Kippo and Binn and Agnes Moncreiffe.1 A contract for the marriage of Sir Andrew Murray, 1st Lord Balvaird and Lady Elizabeth Carnegie was signed on 30 April 1628.1 He died on 24 September 1644.1
     He was appointed Knight in 1633.1 In 1636 he had a charter of the lands of Pitlochie.1 He held the office of a Member of the General Assembly in 1638.1 He was created 1st Lord Balvaird [Scotland] on 17 November 1641.1 In March 1642 he succeeded his cousin, Mungo Murray, 2nd Viscount of Stormont, to the lands of that Lordship.1

     Frances Temple was the daughter of Sir Peter Temple, 2nd Bt. and Christiana Leveson.2 She married Weston Ridgeway, 3rd Earl of Londonderry, son of Robert Ridgeway, 2nd Earl of Londonderry, on 20 September 1650 at St. Anne's, Blackfriars, London, England.1 She died in 1688/89.1
     From 20 September 1650, her married name became Ridgeway.

     He held the office of High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1671.2 He lived at Wooton under Barnwood, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1
