     He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 7th Volunteer Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was appointed Fellow, Land Agents' Society (F.L.A.S.)1
