ThriftBooks BuyBack Is Here!

One of the most frequently asked questions received into the ThriftBooks Customer Service team is, "Do you buy books?" Up until recently we did not have a consumer recommerce program that would allow individuals to sell books directly to ThriftBooks.

That changes today!

As many of you may know, last year we introduced ThriftBooks BuyBack in Beta. Over the past eight months, we have been testing this program, receiving feedback from its users, and working on refinements. Today we feel it is ready to officially share with booklovers everywhere (and keep reading for a special offer at the end).

What is ThriftBooks BuyBack?

We know many of you have books you no longer want, cluttering up your bookshelves. Being booklovers, you seek a responsible way to recirculate these books to new homes. ThriftBooks BuyBack is a new program where any of you can sell books you no longer want to ThriftBooks in exchange for cash or ThriftBooks store credit. It's the circular economy coming to books!

Why ThriftBooks BuyBack?

Saving books from landfills and finding new homes for them is at the core of what we do. It has been our mission for over 20 years, and we have made a huge impact in this space, finding homes for over 260 million books over the years! All of you, our ThriftBooks customers, have played a critical role in this mission by purchasing books at ThriftBooks and opening your homes to new books. Now we want to return the favor, providing you a place where you can send books once you have finished them. Together we will create a complete Circle of Book Sustainability!

How Does ThriftBooks BuyBack work?

We have worked hard to make the buyback process as easy as possible:

CHOOSE YOUR BOOKS

ThriftBooks BuyBack is a great way to declutter your bookshelf. Select the books you want to part ways with and scan or enter them into our system to see if they will be accepted at this time. Note that we determine which books to accept based upon current market needs and inventory levels. We do our best to accept as many books as possible at the best offer price as possible, however not all books will be accepted.

My Bookshelf/My SellBack Shelf
For books you have purchased through ThriftBooks, we have made it super simple to sell them back. Go to "My Account," select "My Bookshelf" and you will see our new feature, "My SellBack Shelf." On this shelf is a listing of all the books you have purchased on ThriftBooks.com that we currently are accepting back, along with the current offer.

Select or deselect the books you want to send back, and they will be added to your "My Sell List." We do also buy back books not purchased on ThriftBooks.com. You can add those books via our app's mobile scanner or by entering the ISBN number.

3) Once on the "My Bookshelf" page, toggle to "My SellBack Shelf":

Once you have finished adding books to your Sell List, click on "Accept Offer." You will then be able to select your payment option, either ThriftBooks Store Credit or PayPal, and submit your contact details. Agree to the BuyBack terms and conditions and click on "Finalize BuyBack." We will provide you with a free prepaid shipping label which you can print from the webpage or from the confirmation email.

PACKING YOUR BOOKS

Packing your books for safe travel to ThriftBooks is an important step. Please follow these instructions:

• USE ONLY ONE BOX
  Your BuyBack will only be accepted in one box. Using multiple smaller boxes will result in your BuyBack being rejected.
• USE THE FREE SHIPPING LABEL PROVIDED
  We do not reimburse for shipping when you use a different carrier. Any box sent to us that does not use our Free Prepaid Shipping Label will be rejected.
• DO NOT ADD ANY EXTRA ITEMS
  Send only the accepted items on your packing slip. You will not be paid for any extra items.
• SECURELY BOX YOUR BOOKS
  Choose a sturdy box with ample space to accommodate your books, including sufficient padding to protect spines and edges. Please securely tape the box closed. Make sure the bottom of the box has sufficient tape as well.
• MAIL WITHIN 7 DAYS
  BuyBacks not postmarked within 7 days will be automatically cancelled.

GET PAID

When your BuyBack arrives at our facility, we will process the order, and then payment will be made directly to you. Please allow up to 20 business days for payment. This includes up to 14 business days for shipping and 5-6 business days for processing.

• PayPal payments will be deposited into the PayPal account you linked to your BuyBack.
• ThriftBooks Store Credit payments will show in "My Account," under the "Account Balance."

We will keep you updated throughout the process.

Once you submit your BuyBack, you will receive an email confirmation with your BuyBack number. Look for additional email updates when your package has been scanned at USPS, once we receive your package at our facility, when we have opened and verified your books, and when we have processed your payment.
