Book Overview

Was your mother preoccupied, distant, or even demeaning? Have you struggled with relationships--or with your own self-worth? Often, the grown children of emotionally absent mothers can't quite put a finger on what's missing from their lives. The children of abusive mothers, by contrast, may recognize the abuse--but overlook its lasting, harmful effects.

Psychotherapist Jasmin Lee Cori has helped thousands of men and women heal the hidden wounds...

Great book for self-help

I went through uni therapy, and resolved most of my religious trauma, but a topic that kept coming up was my mother's role in my emotional state. I had used up all my sessions, so I felt like I still had work to do. This book has exercises that help you work though, not just deal, with the difficult feelings, and you walk away feeling better. Would recommend.

Well-written book on mother's and childhood emotional neglect.

This is a well-written book about absentee mothers, and the long-term lasting abusive effects right through adulthood. It provides an easily read outline so the reader can easily understand the traumatic relationship of a neglectful, absent mother, during their early formative years, and how this early psychological abuse affects relationships into adult years. It is an engaging read that will emotionally and seriously impact the reader. This book should be required reading for all psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and counselors.
