COOKIE NOTICE (GLOBAL)
Uber and its third-party partners use “cookies” and other tracking technologies (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”), including third-party Tracking Technologies, on Uber’s websites, apps, email communications, ads, and other online services (collectively, “Online Properties”). These are used to enable, enhance, personalize and analyze use of Uber’s services (“Services”) and Online Properties, and for purposes of personalized ads.
This Notice describes the Tracking Technologies that we and our partners use, how we use them, and your choices regarding such Tracking Technologies. For more information regarding Uber’s collections and uses of personal data, please see our User Privacy Notice.
The Tracking Technologies we use
We use the following Tracking Technologies for the purposes described in this Notice:
“Cookies” are small text files that are placed and stored on your browser when you visit a website, or on your device when you use an app. They may be created and placed by either the website or app you are visiting (in which case they are referred to as “first party” cookies), or by websites or apps other than the one you are visiting (in which case they are referred to as “third party cookies”). We use both “session cookies,” which expire when you close your browser, and “persistent cookies,” which expire after a set period of time (even if you close your browser).
“Pixel tags” (also called beacons) are small blocks of code placed on webpages, apps, emails or ads that enable us to identify users when providing our Services and track interactions with our Online Properties.
“Software Development Kits” (also called SDKs) are blocks of code that are functionally similar to cookies and pixel tags, except for mobile apps. SDKs allow their developers to collect information about the device and network you use to access our apps, and about your interaction with ours apps.
“Local storage” refers to files that are created by apps or websites, and stored on your device or browser. Such files function similarly to cookies.
How we use Tracking Technologies
The following table describes the categories of Tracking Technologies (including cookies, pixel tags, SDKs, and local storage files) that are placed on the Online Properties, the purposes for which they are used, and whether placed by Uber or third parties.
The list of parties that serve these Tracking Technologies is subject to change, and may not be exhaustive. In addition, the Tracking Technologies used, and the parties that serve them, may vary depending on jurisdiction, and across the Online Properties.
The data collected by third parties through the Tracking Technologies they place on the Online Properties is subject to the third parties’ privacy notices. For more information regarding their practices, please follow the links in the table below.
