Law enforcement officers are always available 24 hours a day to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls about sexual misconduct. In cases of sexual assault, officers can explain the options for medical exams, counseling, advocacy, and the processes for reporting assaults as crimes. Officers will ask if survivors want advocates present to help them through the proceedings.

CARES is a campus team that identifies, assesses, and responds to all incidents related to student mental-physical health or conduct.
We encourage faculty and staff to document incidents using the CARES Student of Concern Form and submit the form online using the CARES reporting form. A student will have a right to see the Student of Concern Form. CARES will determine potential interventions on a case-by-case basis.

Office of Conflict, Resolution, & Policy (CRP Office)
In recognition of the dignity and worth of every member of its community, the University of Montana pursues a campus that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on protected status. An inclusive environment is necessary for a healthy and productive University community where all members are empowered to reach their full potential. The University will take appropriate action to resolve, remediate, and prevent the recurrence of all forms of protected-class misconduct, including conduct protected under Title IX.
CRP Office is responsible for administering UM’s Discrimination, Harassment, & Retaliation Policy and accompanying Grievance Procedures. The CRP Office is available to meet with individuals who have experienced protected-class misconduct to coordinate supportive measures and discuss resolution options.

Advocacy and Support Services

SARC at the University of Montana provides free and confidential peer counseling and crisis intervention to student survivors of sexual and relationship violence, as well as support and information for family and friends. Services are available to survivors at all stages of recovery, from initial crisis intervention to healing, through support groups and peer counseling. SARC is located at UM’s Curry Health Center.

Counseling assists students by addressing their counseling and psychotherapy needs helping them gain the most from their time on campus. When a student's mental health care needs are beyond the scope of our services, we will assist with referrals to community-based providers for specialized or longer-term care. Counseling Services is located in the garden level of the Curry Health Center and is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Office for Disability Equity is a resource for UM faculty members, departments, and schools. We are available for consultations on accessibility in the curriculum and on teaching and interacting with students with disabilities.
