October 28, 2024 - Union University’s Department of Music will present four concerts over the next two weeks that are free and open to the public.  The Union Symphony Orchestra concert will be Oct. 29, with the University Singers concert on Oct. 31.  Next week, the Symphonic Band concert will be Nov. 5, while the Commercial Music Ensembles concert will be Nov. 7.  All concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the G.M. October 23, 2024 - As a native of Jackson, Tennessee, Union University junior Mackenzie Cooper loves her community. October 17, 2024 - Union University’s annual Homecoming celebration will take place on campus Oct. 21-26, with a full slate of activities for current students and alumni.  Among the week’s key events:

     
  • A community prayer breakfast Oct. 25 from 6:45-7:45 a.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center. The breakfast is free, but reservations are required.

    October 4, 2024 - Union University will host the 16th annual Remember Me Walk for survivors of homicide loss Oct. 7.  Each year, families come together on Union’s campus to honor and celebrate the lives of their loved ones lost to homicide.     October 3, 2024 - Longtime Union University music professor Terry McRoberts will be the featured organist at the 35th annual Carolyn Townsend McAfee Concert at Union Oct. 21.  An Ohio native, McRoberts retired from teaching at Union after the spring 2024 semester. He taught piano, organ and related courses, and he served as university organist, university carillonneur, coordinator of keyboard studies and coordinator of concerts and recitals.  McRoberts holds degrees from Manchester, Youngstown State and Ball State universities.     October 1, 2024 - Odd Arne Westad, Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs at Yale University, will serve as the 2024 Carls-Schwerdfeger History Lecturer at Union University Oct. 14.  Westad will deliver two lectures. His first lecture, “On Major War: The United States, China, and Lessons from the Past,” will take place at 2 p.m. At 7:15 p.m., Westad will discuss “The Hinge: British Imperial Administrator James Bruce and the Re-ordering of Empire, 1840-1860.” Both lectures will be held in Union’s G.
