They have recurrent difficulties attracting capital, developing business expertise among their members, sustaining long-term commitment and growing to the size required to compete efficiently in many industries. Yet there has been a remarkable upsurge of interest in co-operatives during the past decade, and their many successes in diverse industries demonstrate that co-operatives can offer their members a powerful combination of strong business performance and a highly satisfying work life. This thesis asks whether the weaknesses apparent in co-operatives historically, and present in many still today, are inherent in the co-operative form. Is the co-operative sector bound to remain basically marginal, or could it, with the aid of some practic...

I discuss, first, a famous case, Alexander v. Yale, that established the legal responsibility of American universities to seriously address sexual harassment and violence. Second, I provide a brief survey of the state of higher education today in the United States and the United Kingdom, focusing on recent cases of a predatory professors and the notion of consent. Third, I suggest practical micro-solutions that will reduce the incidence of sexual harassment in educational and research institutions, thereby furthering the wider project of creating a world in which all genders enjoy equal opportunities.

Coming from a working-class family, I was unaccustomed to the private schools, boundless checking accounts and the sense of entitlement in which many of my new classmates luxuriated. On breaks, they sailed and skied; I worked to pay tuition. They seemed to belong at Yale, as did Kavanaugh. I was made, through innumerable slights now called microaggressions, to feel foreign.

Can a professional woman, at the top of her career, really, ever, "Have it all?''
For many, the words "Rhodes Scholar" represent Success with a capital ''S.'' As a woman -- and one of the first among us to be a Rhodes Scholar -- I've always been interested in what, precisely, defines "Success" for our generation, and what will define it for generations to come. It is interesting and I must admit, disappointing, that at Rhodes Scholar reunions, women are still shepherded to panels on "work life balance." And that we are told -- by our Rhodes women peers -- that we are "redefining success." Why can't we succeed on the same plane as the men?

Those are the words of one young man - a self-confessed 'pornosexual' - to Medical Daily. According to the website, this unfamiliar term describes someone whose ‘sexual orientation is linked solely to pornography.’
Simply: they prefer watching online porn to sex with real people.
In the course of my work, as a lawyer representing female victims of sexual harassment, violence and revenge porn, I have had to study the most popular pornographic websites and films. The majority of scenes contain physical and verbal abuse directed against the female performers.

So this week’s launch of a global Rhodes scholarship, open to students from anywhere in the world, is as welcome as was last month’s appointment of the first female warden of Rhodes House, which administers the programme. Both announcements have been more than a century in the making.
