  • 2024 - Now: Associate Professor, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

  • 2018 - 2023: Principal Researcher, Microsoft Research Redmond
    • Led a team developing cutting-edge pre-training techniques for NLP and multimodal tasks;
    • Led a team to integrate GPT-4 to Bing’s search services to provide the knowledge base for the New Bing; compressing GPT-4/ChatGPT to reduce the model size.
  • 2015 - 2018: Research Staff Member, IBM T.J. Waterson Research Center
    • Developed model compression techniques and applied them to image classification/object detection models in IBM Watson services;
    • Led a team to develop deep generative models (GAN, VAE) based techniques, many of which have been productized to IBM products.
  • 2023 - 2024: Visiting Professor, Rice University
    • Teaching the graduate course “Special Topics in Deep Learning”
