Yo Joong “YJ” Choe
I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago’s Data Science Institute, where I work with Victor Veitch. This August, I will join INSEAD as an Assistant Professor of Decision Sciences. I received a joint Ph.D. in Statistics and Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University in 2023, under the able supervision of Aaditya Ramdas.I am an interdisciplinary researcher with backgrounds in statistics, machine learning, and large language models (LLMs). My current research spans two somewhat distinct topics: (1) game-theoretic statistics & sequential anytime-valid inference (SAVI), motivated by forecast evaluation problems; (2) principled methods for understanding & engineering representations in LLMs.
Upcoming Events: I will be at the Alignment Workshop (4/23, Singapore), ICLR 2025 (4/24-28, Singapore), and the 3rd Workshop on Game-Theoretic Statistics & SAVI (6/30-7/4, Chennai, India).
