the new millennium, we can see more intense
foreign-political activities of this country in the
Middle East. Here Beijing is building trade relations
with oil producers and also seeks to consolidate
diplomatic ties and security cooperation
with states with common interests (such as Iran
and GCC states). Given the rapid economic
growth and increased engagement of China in
various parts of the world over the last three decades,
and given the relative decline of the US
and European influence in non-Western regions,
economic, diplomatic and military activities
of China as an emerging power in the Middle
East is a highly up-to-date and relevant topic.
