I am a Ph.D. scholar at Zhejiang University and also serving as a faculty member in the Electrical Engineering Department at COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus. My doctoral research investigates the stability and control system for a Smart grid and how microgrid optimally integrates with the main power grid for a reliable Electric power system. I have taken a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses the fields of electrical energy, renewable energy resources, control systems, advance power protection schemes, and cascaded systems. I hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems from Comsats University Islamabad, Pakistan that investigated heuristic optimization techniques for the energy management systems with optimal integration of solar panels. Up till now, I have published several international conferences and journal articles as a first author, with the impact factor of 10.86. My verbal and non-verbal English communication skills are excellent.
In smart grids, a hybrid renewable energy system that combines multiple renewable energy sources ... more In smart grids, a hybrid renewable energy system that combines multiple renewable energy sources (RESs) with storage and backup systems can provide the most cost-effective and stable energy supply. However, one of the most pressing issues addressed by recent research is how best to design the components of hybrid renewable energy systems to meet all load requirements at the lowest possible cost and with the best level of reliability. Due to the difficulty of optimizing hybrid renewable energy systems, it is critical to find an efficient optimization method that provides a reliable solution. Therefore, in this study, power transmission between microgrids is optimized to minimize the cost for the overall system and for each microgrid. For this purpose, artificial bee colony (ABC) is used as an optimization algorithm that aims to minimize the cost and power transmission from outside the microgrid. The ABC algorithm outperforms other population-based algorithms, with the added advantage...

In this research work, we present Circular Joint Sink Mobility (CJSM) scheme for WSNs. Our proposed scheme increases the stability period, network lifetime and throughput of the WSN. The beauty of our proposed scheme is that it controls the cluster head (CHs) election and selection in such a way that uniform load on CHs is ensured and it measures the distances through which each packet is sent from CHs to sink or Base Station (BS). Two mobile sinks are move in opposite direction, therefore each node or CHs calculates its distance and send data to the nearest one to preserve its energy. Thus, proposed scheme minimizes the overall energy consumption of the network. We implement CJSM scheme, in homogeneous, heterogeneous, reactive and proactive simulation environments. Results justify its applicability.
Demand side management (DSM) and demand response (DR) are the key functions in smart grids (SGs).... more Demand side management (DSM) and demand response (DR) are the key functions in smart grids (SGs). DR provides an opportunity to a consumer in making decisions and shifting load from on-peak hours to off-peak hours. The number of incentive base pricing tariffs are established by a utility for the consumers to reduce electricity consumption and manage consumers load in order to minimize the peak to average ratio (PAR). Throughout the world, these different pricing approaches are in use. Time of use tariff (ToU) is considered in this paper, to comparatively evaluate the performance of the heuristic algorithms; bacterial foraging algorithm (BFA), and harmony search algorithm (HSA). A hybridization of BFA and HSA (HBH) is also proposed to evaluate the performance parameters; such as electricity consumption cost and PAR. Furthermore, consumer satisfaction level in terms of waiting time is also evaluated in this research work. Simulation results validate that proposed scheme effectively ac...

Clouds provide virtual environment for computation and storage. Number of cloud users is increasing drastically which may cause network congestion problem. To avoid such situation, fog computing is used along with cloud computing. Cloud act as a global system and fog works locally. As the requests from users are increasing so load balancing is also required on fog side. In this paper, a three layered cloud and fog based architecture is proposed. Fog computing acts as a middle layer between users and the cloud. Users’ requests are handled at fog layer and filtered data is forwarded to cloud. A single fog has multiple virtual machines (VMs) that are assigned to the users’ requests. The load balancing problem of these requests is managed by proposed weighted cuckoo search (WCS) algorithm. Simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of proposed model. Results are presented in the form of bar graphs for...

The problem formulation is carried via multiple knapsack and its solution is obtained via ant colony optimization (ACO). Simulation results show that the designed model for energy management achieves our objectives; it is proven as a cost-effective solution to increase sustainability of smart grid. The ACO based energy management controller performs more efficiently than energy management controller without ACO based scheduling in terms of electricity bill reduction, peak to average ratio minimization and user comfort level maximization.
