The 2005 United States Open Championship was the 105th U.S. Open, held June 16–19 at Pinehurst Resort Course No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Michael Campbell won his only major title, two strokes ahead of runner-up Tiger Woods; third-round leader and two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen collapsed on the final day.
