La principal novetat d'aquesta edició fou la incorporació del Stadio Olimpico de Roma com a seu per als partits com a local de la selecció italiana, a causa de les obres de millora en el Stadio Flaminio de Roma. El torneig va començar el 4 de febrer i va concloure el 17 de març de 2012, amb la victòria de la selecció de Gal·les, selecció que a més va aconseguir el Grand Slam en aconseguir guanyar tots els seus partits. - The 2012 Six Nations Championship, known as the 2012 RBS 6 Nations due to the tournament's sponsorship by the Royal Bank of Scotland, was the 13th series of the Six Nations Championship. The annual northern hemisphere rugby union championship was contested by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Including the competition's previous incarnations as the Home Nations Championship and Five Nations Championship, it was the 118th tournament of the annual European championship. For the first time since 2008, there were no Friday night fixtures. Whilst Italy continued to play their home matches in Rome, they used the Stadio Olimpico instead of the Stadio Flaminio, which Italy had used for their home Championship fixtures since entering the competition in 2000. The Championship was won by Wales, who achieved their third Grand Slam in eight tournaments. (en)

Il Galles, con la conquista del suo trentaseiesimo titolo, appaiò l'Inghilterra in testa al palmarès della competizione; nell'occasione conseguì anche il suo terzo Slam dell'era-Sei Nazioni e undicesimo totale.L'Italia evitò sia whitewash che cucchiaio di legno, grazie alla vittoria interna all'Olimpico sulla Scozia che relegò all'ultimo posto la formazione britannica. - Puchar Sześciu Narodów 2012 (2012 Six Nations Championship, a także od nazwy sponsora turnieju Royal Bank of Scotland – 2012 RBS 6 Nations) – trzynasta edycja Pucharu Sześciu Narodów, corocznego turnieju w rugby union rozgrywanego pomiędzy sześcioma najlepszymi zespołami narodowymi półkuli północnej. Turniej odbył się pomiędzy 4 lutego a 17 marca 2012. Pucharu broniła reprezentacja Anglii. Wliczając turnieje w poprzedniej formie, od czasów Home Nations Championship i Pucharu Pięciu Narodów, była to 118 edycja tych zawodów. W turnieju brały udział seniorskie reprezentacje narodowe Anglii, Francji, Irlandii, Szkocji, Walii i Włoch. W zawodach triumfował zespół Walii, zdobywając dodatkowo trzeciego Wielkiego Szlema na przestrzeni ośmiu lat. Pierwszą od 2007 roku drewnianą łyżkę za ostatnie miejsce w turnieju otrzymała natomiast reprezentacja Szkocji, która komplet porażek ostatni raz odniosła w 2004 roku. Rozkład gier upublikowano w styczniu 2011 roku, jednocześnie też ogłoszono, że po raz pierwszy od turnieju w 2008 żaden mecz nie zostanie rozegrany w piątek, nie wykluczając jednak takiej możliwości w przyszłości. Sędziowie tych spotkań zostali natomiast wyznaczeni 1 listopada 2011 roku, z jedną zmianą z powodu kontuzji Alaina Rollanda. Reprezentacja Włoch pierwszy raz w historii swoich startów w turnieju swoje mecze w roli gospodarza rozgrywała poza Stadio Flaminio, który przechodził modernizację. Obiektem, na którym gościła swoich rywali, był rzymski Stadio Olimpico. Z powodu stwarzającego zagrożenie dla zawodników zmrożonego boiska na Stade de France sędzia Dave Pearson odwołał zaplanowany na 11 lutego mecz drugiej kolejki Francja–Irlandia. Spotkanie mogło zostać rozegrane w jeden z wolnych weekendów (18-19 lutego lub 3-4 marca), przy czym preferowanym przez trenerów obu drużyn rozwiązaniem był pierwszy z nich, aby uniknąć konieczności rozgrywania meczów turnieju cztery tygodnie z rzędu. Oficjele jednak podjęli decyzję o przeprowadzeniu spotkania 4 marca. Najlepszym zawodnikiem turnieju został reprezentujący Walię , najwięcej punktów zdobył jego rodak Leigh Halfpenny, natomiast największą liczbę przyłożeń zaliczył Irlandczyk Tommy Bowe.
