- Aternum o Aternitum, fou una ciutat de la costa Adriàtica a Itàlia, avui anomenada Pescara. Fou ciutat del poble dels vestins, l'única a la costa. A la Segona Guerra Púnica es va declarar per Anníbal i fou ocupada pels romans dirigits pel pretor Sempronius Tuditanos el 213 aC que hi va fer set mil presoners. Amb August s'hi va establir una colònia militar però no va obtenir rang de colònia i va restar com a municipi. Va mantenir aquesta condició sota l'imperi i més tard va agafar el nom de Piscària. (ca)
- Aternum was a Roman town, on the site of Pescara, in Italy. Some historians also refer to Aternum with the name of Ostia Aterni, due to its location at the mouth of the river Aternus. Being connected to Rome through the Via Tiburtina and its extension the Via Valeria, Aternum played a crucial in connecting the capital to the Eastern provinces of the Empire. Its harbour, largely occupied by commercial and fishing ships, was supposedly also used for military purposes. The main building was the temple of Jovis Aternium but there are traces of other temples dedicated to Roman and even Egyptian divinities. Moreover, there are reports about the construction of a monumental bridge by the emperor Tiberius. (en)
- Aternum, od Ostia Aterni, è stata una città romana della Regio IV Samnium. Il suo centro abitato corrisponde alla moderna Pescara, che ne rappresenta l'evoluzione storica. Mantenne il nome Aternum sino intorno all'anno 1000, quando fu sostituito con Piscaria. Terminale orientale della strada consolare Tiburtina Valeria, il suo porto assunse una discreta rilevanza per i collegamenti fra Italia e Dalmazia, ma l'insediamento non raggiunse mai il rango di municipium.
