- Die Kirchenburg von Birthälm (rumänisch Biserica fortificată din Biertan) ist eine spätgotische Kirchenburg in Birthälm, Kreis Sibiu, in der historischen Landschaft Siebenbürgen im heutigen Rumänien. Erbaut wurde sie Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts von Siebenbürger Sachsen; als damals noch römisch-katholische Kirche war sie Maria geweiht. Eine Inschrift über dem Triumphbogen mit der Jahreszahl 1522 bezieht sich vielleicht auf die Fertigstellung des Kirchenbaus. Nachdem 1572 der Birthälmer Pfarrer Lukas Unglerus (1526–1600) zum Bischof der evangelischen Kirche gewählt worden war, wurde die Kirche zum Bischofssitz der Evangelischen Kirche A.B. und blieb bis zur Verlegung des Bischofssitzes 1867 geistlicher Mittelpunkt der Siebenbürger Sachsen. Mit dem sie umgebenden Ort gehört die Kirchenburg seit 1993 zum UNESCO-Welterbe. (de)

It was built by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxon community at a time when the area belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary. Briefly Roman Catholic, it became Lutheran following the Reformation. Together with the surrounding village, the church forms part of the villages with fortified churches in Transylvania UNESCO World Heritage Site. (en)
- La iglesia fortificada de Biertan (en rumano, Biserica fortificată din Biertan, en alemán, Kirchenburg von Birthälm) es una iglesia fortaleza luterana en Biertan, distrito de Sibiu, en la región de Transilvania de Rumanía. Fue construida por la comunidad étnicamente alemana de sajones de Transilvania en el siglo XV época en la que estas áreas pertenecían al reino de Hungría. Una inscripción en el arco triunfal que muestra el año 1522, podría indicar el año de su finalización. Por un breve tiempo fue una iglesia católica consagrada a santa María. Pasó a ser luterana tras la Reforma, cuando el sacerdote local Lukas Unglerus (1526-1600) fue nombrado obispo de la iglesia protestante, y fue la sede de la Iglesia Evangélica de Confesión Augustana en Rumanía, centro espiritual de la comunidad sajona transilvana hasta 1867, cuando se trasladó la sede episcopal. Junto con algunos pueblos próximos, Biertan forma parte del sitio «Aldeas con iglesias fortificadas de Transilvania» del Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO (n.º ref. 596bis-001). (es)
