- Els anells de Cabot són filaments prims en forma d'un bucle o vuit que es troben de vegades als eritròcits. Es considera que són microtúbuls residuals del fus mitòtic. S'han observat en un grapat de casos en pacients amb anèmia megaloblàstica, saturnisme i altres trastorns d'eritropoesi. Foren descrits per primera vegada el 1903 pel metge estatunidenc (1868-1939). - Cabot rings are thin, red-violet staining, threadlike strands in the shape of a loop or figure-8 that are found on rare occasions in red blood cells (erythrocytes). They are believed to be microtubules that are remnants from a mitotic spindle, and their presence indicates an abnormality in the production of red blood cells. Cabot Rings, considerably rare findings, when present are found in the cytoplasm of red blood cells and in most cases, are caused by defects of erythrocytic production and are not commonly found in the blood circulating throughout the body. - Los anillos de Cabot son unas estructuras filamentosas, muy delgadas de color rojo-violeta con las coloraciones habituales para hematología que presentan en forma de anillos, lazos o figuras con forma de 8, y que en algunas ocasiones se encuentran en los glóbulos rojos de la sangre. Se cree que son microtúbulos remanentes del huso mitótico, y su presencia indica anormalidades en la producción de los glóbulos rojos. Los anillos de Cabot, siendo hallazgos bastante raros, cuando se presentan se encuentran en el citoplasma de los glóbulos rojos, y, en la mayoría de los casos son causados por defectos en la producción de los eritrocitos. y no son un hallazgo frecuente en la sangre de la circulación general.
