- Der Kopenhagen-Marathon (offizieller Name Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon nach dem Hauptsponsor, der dänischen Bank ) ist ein Marathon in Kopenhagen, der seit 1980 vom Sportverein Sparta Atletik og Motion veranstaltet wird. Er ist somit einer der ältesten Stadtmarathons weltweit. Seit 2003 erreichten jeweils 4000 bis 5000 Läuferinnen und Läufer das Ziel. Damit ist der Kopenhagen-Marathon nach dem Stockholm-Marathon und dem Helsinki-Marathon der drittgrößte in Nordeuropa und gehört zu den 25 größten in Europa. Die Strecke führt zunächst über zwei unterschiedliche Runden (16 und 12 km), danach ist die erste Runde auf weitgehend gleicher Strecke (14 km) nochmals zu laufen. Damit haben die Zuschauer die Möglichkeit, die Läufer mehrmals zu sehen. Der höchste Punkt der Strecke wird mit 30 m ü. M. bei Kilometer 21 erreicht, ansonsten verläuft die Strecke flach mit Erhebungen zwischen 5 und 10 m ü. M. Der Start befindet sich unmittelbar im Stadtzentrum an der Dänischen Königlichen Bibliothek. Die Zeitnahme erfolgt mit Hilfe eines Transponder-Chips am Schuh, den der Veranstalter den Läufern leihweise zur Verfügung stellt. (de)

The course is a mostly flat loop that begins and ends at the harbourfront of Islands Brygge, and wanders through the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. There is a time limit of six hours. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the race were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all paying registrants having the option to transfer their entry to the next edition of the race, or to obtain a full refund. The 2022 race is scheduled for May 15. (en)
