- الحلزون هو الاسم المحلي لمرضٍ بلعومي في لبنان، تسببه يرقانة من خماسيات الثقوب (الاسم العلمي: Pentastomida)، لكائن طفيلي دودي هو الملسنة المشرشرة (الاسم العلمي: Linguatula serrata) أو (دودة لسان الكلب)، والتي تصيب حلق الإنسان بعد أكله كبداً نيئاً أو عقداً ليمفية للخراف أو الماعز. يعتبر مرض الحلزون شكلا من المتورقات (Fasciola)، إذ أن أكل كبد خروفٍ مصاب قد يؤدي إلى تشبث بعض الديدان البالغة للبلعوم باستخدامها لممصاتٍ توجد على جسدها تسمح لها بالالتصاق بالأنسجة، وتسبب الحلزون وذمة في غشاء الحنك وفي البلعوم والحنجرة، ويصاحب هذه الوذمة صعوبة في التنفس قد تتطور إلى الاختناق (ar)
- Halzoun (Arabic:حلزون) is the local name of a buccopharyngeal infection occurring in Lebanon, probably caused by pentastomida larvae of Linguatula serrata (dog tongue worm) which wander into the throat of the human host after ingestion of infected raw liver or lymph nodes from sheep or goats. The word Halzoun means "Snail" in Arabic. Halzoun is considered to be a form of infection with Fasciola, whereby ingestion of infected raw sheep and goat livers may result in the attachment of adult living worms by their suckers to the pharyngeal mucosa causing edema of the soft palate, pharynx and larynx. This edema is accompanied by dyspnea and occasionally asphyxia. (en)
