He has more than 500 publications in international journals and, for his pioneering contributions in nanoscale mechanics, bio-inspired materials, fracture mechanics and adhesion, he received in 2017 the A. A. Griffith Medal and Prize. He is editorial board member of several international journals and has been appointed as the first field chief editor of Frontiers in Materials. Since 2011, he has received several grants from the European Union within the excellence science pillars as well as for high-tech transfer. (en)
