- Renjishi (連獅子) o Dos leones, es una (danza) kabuki con letra escrita por , coreografía de y música de y , que fue estrenada en 1872. Primeramente escenificada para un recital de danza privada en 1861, luego fue expandida y reutilizada en julio de 1872 como un cuarto acto para otra obra en el de Tokio. Renjishi continuó evolucionando, con dos conjuntos musicales diferentes (que todavía hoy se representan) y un interludio cómico que se agregó en 1901. Posteriormente se creó una versión posterior para un padre y dos cachorros de león. Renjishi tuvo su origen en una de las muchas obras de kabuki basadas en el teatro Noh, (El puente de piedra). En las últimas representaciones del desarrollo de Renjishi como danza de kabuki, se acercaba más a la versión noh. En particular, en la representación de febrero de 1901 en el Tokyo-za, Renjishi se convirtió en un estilo (del fondo de pino: matsubame), modificando el escenario para reproducir el fondo del pino verde del escenario del teatro noh. Originally staged for a private dance recital in 1861, it was later expanded and reused in July 1872 as the fourth act for another play at the Murayama-za in Tokyo. Renjishi continued to evolve, with two different sets of music being used (both still performed), and the comic interlude added in 1901. A later version was created for one father and two lion cubs. One of many kabuki works based on the noh play (The Stone Bridge), in the last stages of Renjishi development as a kabuki dance it was brought closer back to the noh version. In particular, in the February 1901 performance at the , Renjishi was turned into a matsubame mono (pine-board play), modifying the stage to replicate the noh stage's green pine tree background. It is a popular dance in the kabuki repertoire that is often performed. (en)
