It was released theatrically on 6 August 2020 in Malaysia and Singapore, and internationally on Netflix in 2021. It was selected as the Malaysian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. At the 31st Malaysia Film Festival, Roh won six awards, including Best Film. The film received critical acclaim internationally, with reviewers praising its symbolism, cinematography and incorporation of Malay folklore.
