- اُعتمد قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 409 بتاريخ 27 مايو عام 1977، وأكد من جديد على القرارات السابقة للمجلس بهذا الشأن وأكد أن السياسات التي أقرها المجلس ستظل قائمة. كما قرر المجلس بموجب الفصل السابع من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة أنه يجب على جميع الدول الأعضاء حظر استخدام الأموال في أراضيهم من قبل رودسيا و/أو المواطنين الرودسيين باستثناء المعاشات التقاعدية. كذلك نص القرار على وجوب نظر اللجنة المنشأة بموجب القرار 253 (الصادر عام 1968) في الاستخدامات الممكنة للمادة رقم 41 من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة. جرى اعتماد القرار بالإجماع دون الحاجة إلى التصويت. - La Resolució 409 del Consell de Seguretat de les Nacions Unides aprovada el 27 de maig de 1977, va reafirmar les resolucions anteriors del Consell i va afirmar que les polítiques creades per ells continuarien vigents. El Consell, de conformitat amb el Capítol VII de la Carta de les Nacions Unides, va decidir també que tots els estats membres prohibirien l'ús de fons en el seu territori per l'ús de la república de Rhodèsia i/o els ciutadans de Rhodèsia, excepte per pensions. La Resolució també va decidir que el Comitè establert a la Resolució 253 (1968) examini possibles usos de l'article 41 de la Carta de les Nacions Unides. La resolució va ser aprovada per unanimitat sense votació. (ca)

- United Nations Security Council Resolution 409, adopted on May 27, 1977, reaffirmed the Council's previous resolutions and affirmed that the policies created by them would remain in place. The Council, acting under Chapter VII, further decided that all member states should prohibit the use of funds in their territory from use by Rhodesia and/or Rhodesian citizens, save for pensions. The Resolution also decided that the Committee established in Resolution 253 (1968) should examine possible uses of Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations. The resolution was adopted unanimously without a vote. The goal of the resolution was to force the closure of the Rhodesian information offices in Australia, South Africa and the United States. The Carter Administration took steps to cut off funding from Rhodesia to the in Washington, D.C. in line with this resolution during August 1977, but it remained open until 1979 after receiving donations from American citizens. The Fraser Government in Australia developed legislation during 1977 to close the Rhodesia Information Centre in Sydney, but abandoned this due to opposition from its own backbenchers. The Fraser Government considered legislating to close the centre again in 1979 after being criticised by the United Nations for failing to implement Resolution 409. (en)
