Gobots
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "GoBots" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see GoBots (disambiguation). |
- Gobots is an Autobot Color Changer from the Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Gobots is a tough fighter who doesn't believe in leaving a job half-done, or even nine-tenths done. He's not satisfied with anything less than 100%. Part of the Autobots' rear guard, he goes through the toughest, most hellacious battlefield conditions simply to make sure there's not a single Decepticon left standing to bring potential ruin to an Autobot victory.

Wings Universe
Gobots was one of many "second generation" Transformers created on Earth at the dawn of the 21st century who chose to join the Autobots and defend the Earth. He was part of the team that fought Clench and the Decepticon Syndicate at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. While on a mission to rescue the hostages with Aquafend, he was exposed to forestonite gas and presumably developed super-powers. Generation 2: Redux

Toys
Generation 2
- Gobots (Color Change, 1993)
- Accessories Spoiler-headlamp assembly/water cannon
- Known designers: Andy Couzens (Hasbro), Takio Ejima (TakaraTomy), Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- A redeco of the European-market Aquaspeeder Jetstorm, Generation 2 Gobots transforms into a Peugeot 405 T16 rally car. His hood section is coated in heat-sensitive paint, turning pale on contact with cold water... but with the amount of stickers on him, that's maybe not a good idea (though heat can make it change color, too, but that's also not a very good idea.)
- He has a long, water-squirting rifle that becomes his front light rack and rear spoiler in car mode. There is a variation of this accessory that uses different-sized plastic bellows.
Notes
- Like all the Color Changers, American Generation 2 Gobots is a hodgepodge of various elements of two different European-market Aquaspeeders: His toy is redecoed from European Aquaspeeder Jetstorm, and his bio and motto both come from European Aquaspeeder Deluge. Of all the Color Changers, he is the only one who isn't assigned a pre-existing name (such as that of another European Aquaspeeder, or that of one of the European-market Stormtroopers). Rather, he is assigned the name of the GoBots franchise, the former competitor of Hasbro's Transformers brand, the trademark for which Hasbro had acquired two years prior when they bought former rival Tonka in 1991.
- The name "Go-Bots" (or "Gobots" without a hyphen on multilingual European packaging) was later used again in the Generation 2 toyline, this time for an entire subgroup.
Foreign names
- Japanese: Gobots (ゴボッツ Gobottsu)
