I am a sailor, born of a nautical tradition passed to me by my father and my Grandfather Alfred. I’ve spent most of life on my passion which is the sea and the vessels which go upon them. I have had many such vessels and now I live on and sail on the sloop WINGS. which I acquired in 1986 with my wife Judy who shared my passion. For ten years we lived on Wings in Seattle and sailed, including racing. Then we left the Pacific Northwest and voyaged across the world, across the seven seas, to faraway places, and made them our own. For thirty-eight years I have lived and loved this life. I still live on Wings, in Mexico, and sail and race often. Judy passed away in June, 2023 and I miss her but you can still join us and sail the seas as we did for all those glorious years. thank you for those excellent photos. The original oil painting of this remarkable yacht has been hanging on our wall in the Bruynzeel House in Stellenbosch for the last 32 years:) We also have the wonderful wood carving, Bruynzeel won on the Trans pacific race 1967.

Beautiful photos of an extraordinary yacht. Never seen her "live" but since my parents where on board for the bigger part of the late sixties I am brought up with stories of Stormvogel.
Believe my father, Peter Lindeberg, were skippering her on TransPac 1967.
Hi, I was mate aboard Stormvogel in the early '70s in the Caribbean. We sailed between Grenada and Antigua on the charter route. It was a really great experience. On board once, was a well know National Geographic photographer (name now forgotten) and he took many photographs for a brochure that was printed up (with me pouring wine in the main salon...). I wish I could recover those images - he was a renown photographer. We sailed back from Antigua to Gibraltar in some really fast time - a true racing crossing.
Of course Stormvogel was featured in the movie "Dead Calm", and when I saw the movie - well worth watching on it's own merits, I almost fell out of my chair when I recognized the boat.

I'm in Stockhom right now and was just thinking of those days. I knew your father and mother and the crew of the boat as I was sailing at that time. Grand days those were.
