Key competences

Trained in physical sciences with practical as well as theoretical experience in informatics through a Ph.D. on Semantic Web technologies, I can adapt to solve a wide variety of problems. I enjoy working with the whole spectrum from deep epistemological problems through the application of statistics, to practical solutions in terms of writing computer programs. My involvement with Web and Semantic Web technologies extends back to 1994 and 1998 respectively.

Recently, my focus has shifted towards problems concering the governance of technology for the betterment of society.

Work experience

Senior Advisor

Working to improve the regulability of the sociotechnological landscape by advocating for normative and social scale technologies on the world stage.

Senior Developer

Working to redecentralize the Web with work on the Solid project. This includes community management, coding on the server side and making the principles clear enough to write in a specification that I participate in writing, testing and editing.

Senior Scientist

Worked to bring Semantic Web technologies to Nornir's Internet of Things ecosystem.

Ph.D. Research Fellow

The main focus of this work is to improve the performance of systems that answer queries over semi-structured data across different data sources across the Internet, in particular through caching. Position also includes some teaching of the SPARQL query language. The period has included two paternity leaves.

Founder and CEO

— present

A one-man company to simplify the administrative processes when an opportunity for short-term consulting presents itself.

Developer

Improved and developed the flagship product "Startsiden" using an internal Perl-based framework.

Senior Knowledge Engineer

Worked as developer on several Semantic Web-projects, using Java-based platforms.

Expedition bicyclist and climber

Made a first ascent of the remote mountain of the northern Tibetan Plateau called Toze Kangri, in a completely unsupported expedition. To approach the mountain, we cycled 1250 km, much of it in terrain.

Semantic Web Specialist

Working divided position between developer and standardisation and implementation of Semantic Web technologies.

Information Systems Developer

Worked on various projects, but most importantly the social media Opera Community where an internal Perl framework was used. The site was in this period one of Norway's most used Web sites.

Developer

Attempted to create a semantic content management system using Perl-based frameworks. While ahead of its time, the project was overambitious and unsuccessful but a good experience.

Consultant

Helped make tens of thousands of people look at a tiny dot, namely the planet Venus, pass slowly across the solar disc. This was achieved by media work, sales of gear and large event on Oslo's Frogner Park.

Consultant

Organised events around the solar eclipse of 31st of May 2003. This entailed selling gear, media work and a large event in Oslo's Frogner Park.

Lecturer

Taught in an undergraduate course named "The Universe".

Consultant

Analysed data from the SOHO satelite.
