The father of 19-year-old Holly Bowles, who died of suspected methanol poisoning in Laos last month, has said he was in "disbelief" when he realised his daughter would not pull through.

The incident comes weeks after the deaths of six tourists in the South East Asian nation of Laos because of suspected methanol poisoning.

This hybrid catalyst performs a two-step reaction in which zeolite converts methane to methanol, and then the enzyme converts methanol to formaldehyde.

The 28-year-old, from Orpington, south-east London, was one of a number of people taken to hospital after drinking alcohol suspected to have been laced with methanol in the backpacking hotspot Vang Vieng.

News reports say the tourists could have drunk alcohol laced with methanol, a toxic industrial chemical.
