Socialist movements have an important place in the journalism of ideas in Turkey. Especially the leftist movements that developed after the 1960s mostly expressed themselves through journals. Among these journals, the Proletarian Revolutionary Luminous (PRL) magazine, which defended the thesis of national democratic revolution, has a special place. The magazine accepted Maoism as the ideological line within the Turkish left. This study will analyze the attitude of the journal in terms of two important approaches of Maoism, the theory of “new democratic revolution” and the theory of “united front”. In the editorials of the journal, especially in its first issues, and again in these issues, these two emphases of Maoism come to the fore in an effort to create an ideological framework by various writers. The PRL emphasized Mao’s new democratic revolution as “national democratic revolution” and the united front theory as “national front” or “national democratic front”. Moreover, in this revolutionary thesis and front politics, the issue of the leadership of the proletariat, another important emphasis of Maoism, was also clearly emphasized by the PRL.
