The aim of this study is to research on the business activities of a thriving informal sector i.e... more The aim of this study is to research on the business activities of a thriving informal sector i.e. Buddhist amulet market in Nakorn Pathom Pagoda area. The paper explores, from a qualitative point of view, the trade revenue, the source of the amulet, kinds and criteria, as well as offers the analysis of physical management of amulet market. The paper shows that the income level of amulet traders from trading the amulets and amulet equipment collections fluctuates with the pressure of demand and its quality. Though amulet business continues to occupy an important place within local economy but its business value remains hidden. The quality of Buddhist amulet is highly related to its sources, in which either its kinds or authenticity can be categorized and verified by a certain set of criteria. This paper ends with the presentation on the physical management of amulet market under the supervision of Nakorn Pathom Pagoda's officers, including land allocation, the determination of rental fee and other fees, and the enforcement of rules and regulations.
