Following the message of the Monastery Lorsch, two of the 24 registered documentary heritage of Germany are looked at. The development of moon and sun observatories led finally to the objective to construct a calendar for farming. The observed analogy in the global context is important. In the second part we can show how relevant digitization is for opening the access to history of a country, to historical university speeches, to literature and journalistic heritage as well as to history of technology as the four examples from Chile, Germany, Jamaica, and Uruguay demonstrate. A low-cost approach facilitates the realization of the documentary heritage projects.
