Maria Heim
Maria Heim is George Lyman Crosby 1896 & Stanley Warfield Crosby Professor in Religion and Chair of Religion of Amherst College. She holds a PhD in Sanskrit and Indian Studies from Harvard University and a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Reed College. She works on Sanskrit and Pali texts.
She has written two books on Buddhaghosa, including Voice of the Buddha (Oxford 2018) and Forerunner of All Things (Oxford 2014). She also wrote a small book on Buddhaghosa and Shantideva, called Buddhist Ethics (Cambridge 2020). She co-edited a volume on the study of emotions with Chakravarthi Ram-Prasad and Roy Tzohar entitled, The Bloomsbury Research Handbook on Emotions in Classical Indian Philosophy (2021).
