The aim of this work is to show why the social values are not accepted by a group of students, al... more The aim of this work is to show why the social values are not accepted by a group of students, although these values are taught in schools. Ten interviews were recorded and then transcribed in two schools and high schools. In these ten sessions, respect, empathy, tolerance, love and equality were discussed in class. The examples are parts of transcribed conversations that are described here based on the propositional content of the utterances. The theses were obtained from educational science, sociology and linguistics.

Drei türkische Zeitungen, Sabah, Milliyet und Hürriyet, werden daraufhin untersucht, wie sie türk... more Drei türkische Zeitungen, Sabah, Milliyet und Hürriyet, werden daraufhin untersucht, wie sie türkische Frauen und deren Stellung innerhalb der Gesellschaft darstellen. Zu diesem Zweck wurden 50 männliche und weibliche Universitätslehrkräfte nach ihren Meinungen gefragt. Es zeigt sich, dass die genannten Zeitungen stark normativ verfahren und gesellschaftliche Veränderungen weitgehend außer Acht lassen. Frauen treten als schwach und als Opfer männlicher Gewalt in Erscheinung. Die genannten Zeitungen sind strikt wertkonservativ, treten nicht für Frauen ein, sondern entsprechen der Mehrheitsmeinung ihrer Leserschaft. Allerdings versuchen sie, Frauen zu beeinflussen, wenn es darum geht, sie auf althergebrachte Vorstellungen festzulegen
The purpose of this study is to explain the functions of imperative sentences in daily Turkish la... more The purpose of this study is to explain the functions of imperative sentences in daily Turkish language within the framework of pragmatic theories. In this respect, the study first discusses the definitions and functions of imperative sentences in line with the studies about the functionality of imperative sentences in functional pragmatics. Then, the functions of imperative sentences in Turkish are explained. These explanations are based on the examples of sixteen different functions of imperative sentences in the Turkish language. The examples are selected from daily-language discourses. These examples are taken from speeches recorded and then transcribed. Each example shows a different function of imperative sentences. Before giving examples, the study briefly explains which imperatives refer to which acts with respect to pragmatic theories. In this study, the student mistakes, in the collaborative writing project, will be discussed. The... more In this study, the student mistakes, in the collaborative writing project, will be discussed. The texts written in the computer lab are sent to the instructor through internet and the teacher underlines the mistakes made by learners and sends the texts back to the students. The students get feedback both from teachers and from peers when they are writing and correcting their mistakes. Since the learners are either in their preparatory or 1st year, the common mistakes made by the students are incorrect structure usage, inappropriate linguistic use, overgeneralizations or mother tongue transfers. These errors result from their limited foreign language knowledge

The communication model between the patient and the medical team, namely the nurse and the other personnel, is similar to the communication model between the doctor and the patient. in this model communication is health-, not patient-oriented. In this study, however, communication is not health-oriented. The subject has become pregnant as a result of incest. The medical team who are aware of this fact treat her in a privileged manner. This special treatment not shown to other patients is strategic and is for the benefit of the patient. In this way the patient not only receives special treatment but she can also find the opportunity to express herself better than other patients.
