Description:
This web collection preserves captures from Brazilian web engines. The snapshots were archived by the Internet Archive, and curated to be part of this collection by the Federal State University of Rio de Janeiro. The web collection was built as part of a research project, which investigates born-digital heritage. Since the collection focuses on the History and Culture categories of the search engines, its crawlers were programmed to capture all the available in-links of those categories. In addition, the web collection is also an attempt to ensure that these fragments became easily accessible. For further information about the collection, also available in Portuguese, please follow the link of the Federal State University of Rio de Janeiro's web site listed above

Description:
"On the Glorious Hill" is a new blog being published on the seminary website starting this week and running for fifteen consecutive weeks. With seven different authors contributing, each entry will showcase a different aspect of life here on the Ridge; pieces of a dazzling mosaic that make up the legacy of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. The idea for the blog originated with President Michael Cooper-White, who, in the midst of the transition to United Lutheran Seminary, has been reflecting with "a great cloud of witnesses" on this special place-- the crossroads of history and hope.

Archived since: Jan, 2016
Description:
Conceived and initiated during his residency at Asia Art Archive in October 2011 and January 2012, Beijing-based artist Song Dong spent more than a year to realise his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, 'Song Dong: 36 Calendars'. This ambitious participatory project involved the re-writing of the last 36 years of history (1978-2013) from his personal perspective in the form of 36 years of hand-drawn, wire-bound annual household wall calendars. Each of the 432 months was accompanied by a sketch of a significant historical event, relaying Song's long-time interest in socio-political history, individual experience, and art history. During the exhibition opening on 21 January 2013, the artist invited over 400 members of the public to collaborate with him to complete the project by adding, changing, or editing individual months according to their own memories of historical events. Alongside Song's version of the calendar, participants' creations added another layer to the artwork, on display throughout the exhibition period. This exhibition was co-presented by Asia Art Archive (AAA) and Mobile M+ of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority at ArtisTree, TaiKoo Place, Island East in Hong Kong from 22 January to 8 February 2013.

Description:
Spongebob Squarepants is an animated television show that aired on July 17, 1999 and is still running to this day. The series chronicles the adventures and endeavors of the title character and his various friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The show is in its tenth season, being produced by Pall Tibbitt, who took over after Stephen Hillenburg in 2004 to continue the show after the first movie. Spongebob Squarepants has remained a popular cartoon since, due to its colorful characters and family oriented humor, and has made millions in merchandise and watch time. The show is also known for its many references to pop culture and subtle humor littered throughout episodes, taking advantage of references to familiar ideas such as Star Wars
and David Hasselhoff. The show even has hidden educational messages, such as references to the Wright Brothers (who built the first flying plane) in The Sponge Who Could Fly
. Few other shows of its time were able to capture so many messages as well as provide a diverse storyline in the same way that Spongebob Squarepants did. The show is a great example of what popular television and humor for kids was like during the 2000s. Spongebob Squarepants is a dynamic show that appeals to multiple audiences and will probably continue to do so for many years.

Description:
This collection is comprised of a modest sampling of sites that feature images, articles, and commentary reflecting diverse perspectives on photographing Detroit’s urban and industrial ruins. Photographs of abandoned and decaying spaces in Detroit, also known as “ruin porn,” have become the poster child for industrial decline in the United States. The term ruin porn is attributed to James Griffioen, Detroit resident and photographer, who used the term during a 2009 interview with Vice magazine to describe journalists flocking to Detroit following the 2008 financial crisis. Griffioen argued that these journalists neglected the complexity of the city’s economic problems and overlooked examples of health and growth by presenting the images out of context and through a prism of stylized photography to manipulate the narrative that the media presents about the city. As the economic health of Detroit begins to rebound, these discussions will be a part of its history; the possible transformation of these buildings and spaces from ruin to reclamation will make documenting its progression even more important.

Description:
Dedicated to the public in 2002, the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial was built by the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights as an educational park designed to actively engage visitors to think, to talk with one another, and to respond to the human rights issues we face in our community, our country and our world. Both the triumphs and tragedies of the human story are on display, but in every quote and every idea, we see the profound power of a single voice or bold action to overcome great odds and alter the course of history. The Memorial includes a life-sized bronze statue of Anne Frank as she peers out an open window. The Memorial is comprised of several major elements: Attic Amphitheater, Memorial Quotes Walls, Water Feature, Rose Beal Legacy Garden and Marilyn Shuler Classroom for Human Rights. Human rights quotes are incorporated within these elements and featured throughout the Memorial. The Memorial is the only Anne Frank Memorial in the United States and one of the few places in the world where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is on permanent, public display in its entirety.
